TRUTH JAPAN WhiteInsight 8010 Popping Fishing Rod
The ultimate tuna rod: a combination of lightness, operability, and deep bend
The WhiteInsight 8010 was developed from the modern understanding of Tuna Game fishing. Today, fishing does not only rely on casting into boils (Nabura), but requires long hours of “Blind Casting” and lure enticement. For this purpose, a rod was developed that is first and foremost lightweight and easy to operate, to prevent angler fatigue, but without compromising on the power required to stop a 100 kg tuna.
Notable Features and Benefits:
“Sticky” and forgiving blank (Low Elasticity Carbon): Unlike the stiff and fast OceanSprinter series, the WhiteInsight series is made of carbon with lower elasticity. This gives the rod a “softer” feel, which perfectly absorbs shocks.
Absolute control of lures: The flexibility of the rod allows for incredibly precise operation of diving pencils, especially in choppy/rough seas. The rod “swallows” the wave and prevents the lure from jumping out of the water, which is critical for enticing the fish.
Ability to fight at a “high angle”: The rod is designed to withstand loads even when held at a high angle (High Sticking), a common situation when the fish is directly under the boat (Vertical Fight) at the end of the fight.
Extended grip for prolonged fights: The rear grip is 20 mm longer compared to the OceanSprinter models (total of approximately 505 mm from the center of the reel seat to the end). This allows for more comfortable work with a Gimbal Belt in long fights against tunas.
Who is the rod suitable for?
Target audience: Anglers looking for more power than the WI828, and want to end fights faster. Also suitable for GT anglers who frequently use Stickbaits and prefer a rod with a “smoother” feel than classic stiff GT rods.
Types of fish:
Yellowfin Tuna (and any tuna up to 100 kg): Ideal for it.
Kingfish/Hiramasa and GT: Excellent thanks to the shock absorption capability that prevents line breaks near the boat.
Important safety note: The rod is not intended for giant Bluefin Tuna (over 100 kg) in areas with particularly strong currents (such as the Tsugaru Strait in Japan). For these purposes, use the heavier models (7210/7610).
Comparison to OceanSprinter:
While the OceanSprinter requires a fast and sharp cast, the WhiteInsight requires a casting technique in which the weight of the lure is “loaded” onto the rear part of the rod (Delay release point). When done correctly, the casting distances are the same, but the effort on the body is significantly less.
